Newsletter: Month Two

Dear Logan,

You are two months old today.  I can’t believe how quickly it seems like time is moving and at the same time it’s crawling by so slowly.  On one side I’m thinking, I can’t believe you’re two months old ALREADY.  And on the other side, You’re ONLY two months old? You should be older than that by now.

But today, you are two months old.

You keep growing and changing and learning, and you’re so amazing to watch and listen to.  You smile so much more now, and it’s clear that you recognize both my face and my voice.  Not enough to calm you down when you’re upset, but enough that you turn your head to find where I am so you can look at me.  And I love the way you smile.  It’s so natural and innocent and spontaneous.  You could go from blank stare to sad face to smiling in the blink of an eye.  I’m fascinated.

Logan, I am so amazed by you.  You respond to music the more you hear it.  It’s pretty clear you have a few favorite songs so far.  You love when daddy sings you the Tigger song and bounces you around.  Sometimes you smile and sometimes you don’t, but it’s so clear that you enjoy the singing and the bouncing.  And yesterday we learned that you enjoy some songs at church.  So much so that when we were singing, you were smiling and cooing, and the moment we stopped singing, you immediately went to your sad face and started to cry.

When we’re home, you dance to music.  I’m not sure if you’re moving just to move or if you are actually trying to dance to the music.  I try to get you on video as much as possible.  Sometimes it works.

You just continue to amuse me. And you’re such a good looking kid.  And I’m not just saying that because I’m your mom.  Although, it is true.

You stuck your feet in the pool the other day.  You didn’t hate it.  I’m not sure you minded at all.  It just seemed to be just another one of those things that mom and dad to you.  But you didn’t hate it and that’s all that matters.

Since you didn’t mind your feet in the pool, the next time we took you to the beach, you stuck your feet in the ocean.  You didn’t mind that either.  You are just so laid back, it’s great.

You’ve even gone to a few baseball games.  Yesterday was daddy’s birthday, so we took you to another game.  You slept through some of it, and smiled through parts.  You were a little fussy, but seriously, I don’t think anyone could hear you over the cheering and all the other comotion.

I’m not sure how you feel about posing for all these pictures we keep taking of you, but you’ll thank me some day.

You’re still such a good sleeper.  We’ve been getting into a routine, you and I.  You’ve been sleeping a solid four hours at night, then you get up to eat for sometimes an hour, and then you’re back to sleep for another four hours.  It’s nice.  But there has been a day or two where I didn’t plan better which made you sleep more during the day and less at night.  I’m still getting the hang of this.

I can’t wait to see what the next month brings, and how much you change and grow.

I love you.

Love, Mommy
